Absolutely. Why should this be considered harassment? To get a new job, you take a drug test. During physicals at the doctor's office, you take a drug test. It's just a precautionary measure, not an accusation.
So if we are going to be giving out a bunch of free handouts to people, shouldn't we at least insure that it is going to good, deserving ones?
The way I see it, we are doing them a favor. My tax money is going to these people, so I would at LEAST like to make sure it's going to people that DESERVE it.
Come on, yeah, it is tough to be in a poor person's position, but I know if I were asking for government money, it would be the LEAST I could do to show them that I deserve it.
And about the new cadillacs and lexuses; right on.

Great idea. That would definitely take many of them off of assistance. Only problem is, they keep popping out those babies and one can't keep money from the Mother because the babies have to have food, clothing and housing. How would society solve such a dilemma.

For what reason would we do this? Harrassment? People on public assistance suffer enough humiliation to get it without anyone insisting on random drug testing as well. How many college students do you know that would pass these tests? Should foreign aid being meted out only after urine samples and submitting an essay as to how grateful you are to receive it? We should have our senior citizens subjected to this degradation?

That would be a good start. They should also be forced to do service 40 hours a week, such as picking up trash on the side of the road, pruning trees in parks, etc.
The government should not be giving away any free handouts.

i would support it. People who are dependent on government handouts should not be on drugs. The government sponsored benefits are not for you to live on, but a way to help you get on your feet. I am sure that there are people who abuse that. I wouldn't be surprised if people use their welfare money and spend it on alcohol.

never thought of that. damn good idea. most of these people above are slamming the idea, but i get disability & i don't see a problem with it. i know several people who sell their food stamps for pot & their children go hungry. it's very sad. it's not harrassment to be drug tested. it's making sure the money is being used for the right things.
