Some women get pregnant right off the depo shot and some have to go to a specialist to get pregnant.

I'd strongly recommend not getting the shot anymore, I was on it for four years and found out that after five years you need a bone density check as it seriously messes with your bone health.

It's not supposed to make you infertile permanently but I have known people that no matter how much they try they haven't been able to or they have had a miscarriage. It can take up to 18 months for your fertility to get back to normal but you should see a doctor if your periods have not returned by this time. The length of time you have been using the injection as a contraceptive should not affect how long it takes for your fertility to return.

I would go to your doctors to get a preconception check up and make sure everything is ok.

When did you stop having the injection and have your periods returned yet. If they have then you should be ovulating, which means you should be able to conceive.

It can take up to a year for your fertility to return. I've never heard of Depo making someone infertile. And the longer a person is on it, the longer it takes to get out of her system.

I was on teh depo shot for 2 cycles. We then tried to get pregnant. i went through all the test...looking for blockages, testing hubby, then went for a blood test to see if I was ovulating. Found out that the depo shot had stopped ovulation all together. I had to take clomid to get it started again.

I only did 3 injections of it and after my last one it took me 13mths to concieve and that pregnancy ended in miscarriage. It did horrible things to my body.

BTW...depo does not cause you to have PCOS...it may bring on the symptoms of it to be stronger but it doesnt cause it.
