i have had 3 kids and enjoyed every birth, the last 2 i had at home.
I enjoyed every minute of it. Dont get me wrong it hurts but if your in control of your breathing your fine. I gave birth in hospital the first time and completely left my dignity on the doorstep, I was stark naked when I was in labour!!!!
I found that being on all fours holding onto the head board was the most comfortable for me because I was able to rock from side to side through the contractions which really helped.

Without drugs? Forgive the terminology but the best way to describe it -- it feels like passing a 7 pound stool. There is an intense sensation to bear down, or push. Yes, it hurts, but it doesn't last forever. If you wanted to wear just a bra I'm sure that would be OK. I was on my back, I didn't really think about other positions. I delivered 3 babies (not all at once) without epidurals.

It feels pretty bad to be honest. I was told it was like passing a melon through the size of a lemon! At times I thought she'd never come out LOL
Once you pass the "Exorcist" stage of shouting, screaming & telling your partner he'll never touch you again, it gets better - or it did for me.
When your baby's born the pain instantly goes & you're over come with the best feeling in the world.
As for just wearing a bra- I suppose you could but, I wore a light cotton night shirt, as I didn't want to show it all, but at one point I couldn't have cared less who was in the room with us LOL
As for position, I would say it depends to the stage & pain you're at. Just go with the flow & control your breathing

Most hospitals tell you to strip down and put on the gown. It hurts extremely bad, there is no other pain to compare it with, it is its own type of pain. You will loose all concept of Modesty at some point during the labor and you won't care what you look like and who sees you. It hurts no matter what position you are in. I laid on my side to speed up the contractions but they hurt more. When I had contractions I would push my stomach out-not pushing as in a bowel movement and it eased some of the pain. It just plain hurts but it is the most wonderful pain you'll ever have.

you arent just warineg a bra you also have a hospital gown to wear to cover up. I had back labor so it felt like the baby was coming out of my spine. She was just pushing her head back on it though. I only took demerol and it stopped working the closer to birth I got. I would lay on my side and have someone rub my back but once it was time for delivery i could only lay on my back. It was awful pain. I think that them pulling out the placenta was just as bad if not worse than pushing the baby out. I was sore for a few days after and had a period for several weeks on my first baby - the second althoug just as painfull didnt leave me as sore . each person is differnt

what you are wearing is going to be the last thing on your mind...and position wise doesnt matter, just make sure you breathe through your contractions it does not help to stop breathing it makes it worse. screaming and yelling doesnt help either, the best way to handle it is to try and stay as calm as possible, good luck.

Did you just call a baby "it"?

I heard it hurts a lot but in the end is well worth it.
