If something will "happen within one generation", how many years is that? One lifetime, say 80 years, or the time to have the next generation of children, e.g. 20 years?

A generation in human terms is usually taken to mean 25 years, i.e about the age people are having children.

its the length of a lifetime, usually thought of as 100 years. although technically, the 20 years is more accurate.
