I like books like the Anne Rice trilogy on the Mayfair witches, (not the vampire stories) or the Hannibal stories by Thomas Harris ( the new one is out Hannibal rising, which I have reserved at the library) The past few books I have read have been predictable and were lacking . I need something that draws you in , keeps you spellbound and can't put down. Preferably a series/trilogy/saga. Any suggestions?

I like the same type books that you do, and then my son recommended a sci-fi called "Spin" by Robert Charles Wilson". It was great! I highly recommend it and suggest you check it out.

Also, any of John Sandford's "Prey" series with Lucas Davenport are very good. The first one was "Rules of Prey", I think. My favorite was "Eyes of Prey". You don't have to read them in sequence to get into the story line.

Storm Constantine has two excellent "Wraeththu" trilogies out and her books and style have often been compared to that of Anne Rice's. Her books are fantasy and can be hard to find (amazon.com is usually the best place) but they are completely different from anything I've ever read before and are anything but predictable! If you're looking for something a little off the beaten path bookwise, try those! One trilogy is simply called "Wraeththu" and the others are known by individual names but can be easily found by typing in Storm Constantine on amazon.com. Happy reading!

I dont know if you would like it, I do tho..
Its called "The Adventures Of Gobbolino, The Witch's Cat"

Its about a little cat who is supposed to be a witch's cat, but doesn't look like one, and doesn't want to be mean like one. He finds himself alone, because, the Witch (the mom) and his sister leaves him. He is struggling to find himself a home, where he will be appereciated and able to just, sit and relax in the kitchen, by a little fire place. He has his special powers (not much) and his hope. He keeps finding wonderful homes, but keeps getting kicked out, because they find out he's a witch's cat. Its a sad story.

It is actually a series. There is that, and then "The Adventures Of The Wooden Horse"
And then, "The Further Adventures Of Gobolino And The Wooden Horse"

Hope this helps! I never put the book down when i read them. Its so adventurous! Well, Enjoy!
