Gosh, this is a good question... for someone like me who has been a movie buff for 30 years it presents a bit of problem, due to the fact that there are a number of truly good, uplifting movies that have been made.
But there are two that keep coming to me right now, oddly both star Barbra Streisand... that's weird even to me..
the first one would have to be "The Prince of Tides" what a good movie, (based on a even better book), that was.
The second would be "The Mirror has Two Faces" .. so much meaning in this, well the other one too.
I am a fan of older movies like "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof" and "Now Voyager" two awesome also uplifting flicks of my parents generation.

To tell you the truth many years ago in High School my English teacher made us watch an old black and white movie and it has stuck to me to this day. It was the biography of Anne Frank and what she and her family went through to escape the Nazis. That movie touched my in a way no other movie has. It made me feel like I was actually there feeling what they were feeling and how scared they must have been. It showed me how evil one person can be and how devestating for those innocent people to have been murdered. I have watched many many many movies some true some fake, but none has touched me like this story. I find the true stories are touching in one way or another. Hanve a great day.

Actually, if I remember correctly, Constantine did that for me at some point. Any movie about the classic battle between Good and evil gives me a feeling of Purpose as far as I can remember. The Lord of the Rings trilogy is a good example of that as well.

This might be horribly cheesy, but I found watching "Dragonheart" to be a powerfully moving experience. If one looks past the fact that yes, it's a mediocre fantasy movie, it has a beautiful lesson to teach us.

The heart of the plot is this: Sir Bowen, a knight of the old code, is the tutor to the royal heir, Einon, a lad who is torn between his father's way (the king, a terrible ruler, cruel and cold) and the knight's code:

The code of a knight:
A knight is sworn to valor.
His heart knows only virtue.
His blade defends the helpless.
His might upholds the weak.
His word speaks only truth.
His wrath undoes the wicked.

When Einon is a teenager, the king dies, leaving him in charge. Despite being mortally injured and restored by a dragon who reluctantly gives half his heart to the young ruler, Einon rejects Bowen's teaching. Embittered, Bowen turns away from the old code and becomes a dragon-killing mercenary (blaming the dragon's heart for Einon's evil).

Eventually, Bowen must confront the fact that Einon chose his evil, and Bowen leads the people against his old pupil.

Bowen's reclaiming of the code is, to me, a powerful story of how someone can return from evil. As someone who felt betrayed and subsequently hurt others, I find that the story of Bowen's redemption resonates deeply in my soul. If Bowen can return from complete disdain of the old code to being its chief defender again, then forgiveness and restoration truly are possible. They are not without cost. Redemption requires a painful honesty and a humility about one's own chosen path.

"It's a Wonderful Life"
I watched that movie for the first time last month, perfectly enough, just before Christmas. I'd heard so much about it, and never got around to watching it till now. What a movie! Teaches you about how being good and compassionate always pays in the end....it really renews the spirit of goodwill and kindness in you...kind of like a boost for the soul...something we all need in the present-day world....

Chariots Of Fire which won the Acadamey Award for Best Picture was one of the most uplifting movies I have seen. You could just feel the inspiration of them running for Honor, Country, and The Glory of God.

I've just watched Ben-Hur, and I have to say that movie taught me that the human spirit is unbreakable.. and that gives me a certain amount of renewed determination and purpose in my difficult life.
