my mum has ntl broadband, it stopped working and they came out replaced the modem because it wasnt working, the thing is he didnt bring an installation disk with him, is there a way i can get it to work without the disk, im waiting for a disk but after ordering 6 stil havent recieved one, she doesnt have an ethernet connection, just a normal phone line one if thats of any help! ?

Call the ISP's support line they should be able to walk you through the set up on the phone.

Broadband is defined as a casting multiple signals back and forth full duplex for a connection. baseband (phone line) is one signal at full duplex. So is your mom using a dial up connection with an external modem, using baseband. Or is it an ethernet cable from your modem to her PC and an ADSL phone line to the modem and shes using broadband? Big diff. between the two. Most ADSL modems require software to configure the PC properly and you cant do anything until then, hence why they tech that replaced your modem did nothing and had to have the software. With dialup you can configure that in control panel in windows...
