All babies are different, but my son who just turned 1 two days ago didn't say mama til the week of Christmas. But he was saying dada, kitty, thank you, pretty, and sissy at 7 or 8 months. This past month though, he's been babbling up a storm, saying all kinds of stuff.

My daughter is 2 1/2 and she still can not or i should say will not talk any more than just the mom and dad words. It differs on child to child my daughter doesnt have a need to talk because her schedule is followed she knows what shes going to get when so she doesnt have a need to tell me what she wants. However some babies are just very talkative and learn quite early and go non stop (i love those kids and the conversations they can get into). It all verys from personality to how much you talk to baby and their will to talk. Hope that helps.

Well, my nugget (who is almost 19 mo. old) didn't say Ma-Ma or Da-Da until a few months ago!
His first words were "bish" (fish), "juice", "wa-wa" (water), "TRACTOR" (which he shouts because he gets soooo excited!), "na-na" (lawnmower), "Wesses" (our dog, Wesson) and "Down" (for all the times I tell the dogs to get down off the couch).
I was incredibly jealous for several weeks when he would holler "Da-Da!!" because he wanted his Daddy until he FINALLY surprised me one day when I came home from work and yelled out "d'ere's da Ma-Ma!" (which translates to "There's the Ma-Ma!" It was the best feeling in the world!
He still occasionally calls me "Da-Da" especially if I'm wearing a baseball cap (because his Daddy wears one all the time). And now we are starting to put simple sentences together (i.e. Where ball? Wesses down! Where Da-Da?, etc.)
He really is a trip and so much fun, especially when I sneak into his room and see him "reading" to himself. It's all baby babble but it means something to him!!!

hi, my son replaced into approximately 10 months while he began with mummy and daddy and those small words. He began speaking at 2, properly each and every week previously he replaced into 2. Now he talks heeps. No sentences as yet, yet bringing a pair of words jointly. I makes use of repetition better than analyzing. additionally jointly as going places like the zoo and so on might tell him the animals call and get him to repeat. i think of my son replaced into lazy, he knew what he needed by potential of pointing. i think of that replaced into our fault. while he pointed we merely gave him what he needed.
