the simpler the better
employers hardly look at cvs they realy only skim the information to decide wether to give you an interview if its over elaborate they will dismiss it without bothering to read it.
harsh, but thats the way it is!
If you need to impress them with your designs take them to the interview where you will have the oppotunity to discuss there merits

I have nearly five years recruitment experience & having seen some 10,000+ CV's I speak with some authority.
Please keep you CV short & exact, if you decide to do a personal profile refrain from putting down points such as loyal & honest, as this will raise the question in the employers eyes why do you need to pont out you are honest & if you are loyal why are you looking for employment elsewhere ( that is if you are currently employed ).
To be on the safe side keep the CV to two A4 sized pages ( printed ) & always put down the months along with the years in relation to your work history. Alot of employers & recruiters can detect waffle straight away & remember you want to give the employer something to digest before you are called up for an interview hopefully. What might also be a good idea is to mention some of the projects you worked on & any positive feedback that you gained.

Word wise I would keep it short and sweet - most resume's only get about 10 seconds worth of look. On the other hand as a graphic artists I would take this opportunity to add some flare. Years ago when I was freelancing as a GD I had an elegant 11x17 resume on high quality recycled paper - the final look was the sheet folded in 1/2 with my resume inside and contact informaiton outside - it looked like a folder. As a GD use the resume to highlight what you can do - possible even have a wedsite that will show more of your work.

As simple as possible - no art work, just plain and simple text. If a pile of CVs landed on my desk I would give more attention to the ones that just had plain text, and immediately bin the ones with graphics or photos on them.

Keep it as simple as possible. Although remember if you are looking for a design job, they will probably be looking at presentation. When I used to read CVs if they were awakward to read or more than two pages, I used to bin them!
