Saddam started selling his oil for euros instead of dollars(this hurt
the US economy FACT).

America invade iraq and guess what they change the oil for euros
back to dollars(this is no coincidence and no conspiracy theory)

America now control the last oil producing country on earth,Iraq
will run out of oil in around 116 years time(british petroleum
figures, not mine)Iran will run out a few years before that.

All these facts can be found on the internet,I think they speak
volumes about the reasons for invading iraq. These facts are
easy to to see if you type in(reasons for war in afghanistan
and iraq)and they are official documents,so after looking for
yourselves can you honestly have any doubt that this war is
about oil

You are completely right and Jesi is essentially talking through her ***. All deals under the oil for food program were conducted in Euros from 2000. Saddam insisted on this or there would be no deal. See below (this is only one of many websites).

Since then though Iran have started trading oil in Euro and Venezuela look set to follow suit. This will hit the US harder than it did when the Euro was only worth $0.83. Now the Euro is worth $1.3 and thus oil from Iran and eventually Venezuela will cost the US much more than when it was traded in dollars. The world demand for dollars will decrease leaving the US with an excess of dollars that nobody wants and the country will begin to slip into recession as the value of the dollar falls even more.

plastikma... there are none so blind as those who will not see! It is refreshing to see someone else post the truth about the war here. I have been stating it over and over and my fingers are becoming raw!!!! Keep up the good work.

And for those who disagree just ask yourselves - who is the bigger fool? The fool or the fool who blindly follows a fool?

Saddam threatened the dollar by selling oil only for euro's and thats what Iran is now doing too. They have been against American aggression for years and finally figured out a way to destroy the US or at least stop the aggressions. This is a huge threat to the American empire as we know it. If they succeed it would be the fall of our society because the dollar would be worthless. Yes you're right it's about the money.

I examine the solutions of each of the others that responded, or perhaps as I agree that one and all warfare in mans historic previous has not been tied to grease i am going to assert that considering WWI oil has been the figuring out component. not really that yet i might want to state that if issues proceed at cutting-edge prices, oil might want to be the recent rationalization for wars, instead to being basically the component that determines the winner of such wars. for sure, it truly is simplifying issues, as all of us do not ignore that there are different factors thinking why countries bypass to warfare, yet at this element and time in historic previous, oil is the tie that binds maximum if not all of those different factors. I completely disagree with the concept flex gas automobiles are the answer, as you'll really be trading one flamable for yet another and could contained in the suitable really extra entangle peoples on a daily basis lives with the real challenge which isn't oil in step with say, yet skill. you may want to, inspite of truth on the opposite, shrink into global food resources in a way that could want to guarantee warfare even speedier than oil itself ever might want to. I agree that decision favor to be developed, yet i have self assurance that the answer contained in the very short while period is a extra effective use of cutting-edge sources till the subsequent technologies is perfected. as an celebration, we desire extra effective take advantage of our photo voltaic, wind, hydroelectric, organic gas and nuclear skill in a way that significantly cuts our dependence on oil be it overseas or relatives.

Correction to your "facts".

Saddam was not selling his oil, the UN was. The only Iraqi oil to be sold legally was through "Food-For-Oil", Saddam had no control over the sale of his oil. The UN agency running Food-For-Oil was selling the oil in dollars. Saddam had a huge stockpile of US dollars prior to the invasion.

The Food-For-Oil program and resulting embargo on the Iraqi oil placed a restriction on the amount of oil available on the free market, this meant US oil and reserves were worth more (basic supply/demand economics.) After invading Iraq one of the first acts Bush did was to petition the UN Security Council to overturn the embargo so the government of Iraq could have a source of income. When the embargo was removed the world's supply of oil increased greatly, decreasing the value of US oil supplies and reserves. OPEC did not order a reduction in daily production for its members to accommodate the increase from Iraqi oil.

So in fact to get to the oil (which the US does not control or get any financial benefit from) would be the weakest reason for the Iraqi war. Only the most myopic fail to see how increasing the world's oil supply would hurt those with oil interests, instead of driving prices up, the additional oil would drive prices down.

Since the US does not control the oil, and the additional supply meant the US oil interests were losing value, how would invading Iraq for oil make any sense? Truth is that it doesn't, and oil was not a reason for the war.

ADDED: KCL 30, thanks for proving how ingorant you are of world economics. The price of oil doesn't increase if it is purchased in euros as opposed to dollars for the US. Learn economics and come back to debate with the adults. You boys better learn to pulls your heads out and LEARN facts before you become adults and rely on the same faulty logic for your real decisions. Now can either of you explain the eocnomic realities of WHY Iraw would have been invaded for oil if that were the case. You conspiracy theorists are so juvenile with your one dimensional and faulty logic. And the WMDs were found in Iraq... you propagandists with an agenda are so transparent in your hate and ignorance.

The oil story was invented by Bush-haters looking for a reason to not support the war.

I say, put this argument on them to prove. Why do liberals want the most unstable of the world, the radical Islamics, to control the world's oil supply?

For those people who think Iraq is about oil, I would like some answers. For starters, where is this oil? When did oil become evil? And when did you stop using oil and all the things that are made from oil?

If this war was about oil, then we would own the Iraqi oil fields. We turned the oil back to the Iraqi's immediately after the major hostilities ended. The oil fields were nationalized under Saddam and now they are open to world commercialization and approval by the Iraqi Parliament which is better for Iraq and will produce the most revenue so they can become self sufficient as a nation. Also, the cost of oil would be less because we would have direct sources of oil rather than go through OPEC rather than the $2.50 to $3.00 ppg now. Your logic is flawed, but good try....

I can also use the Internet to prove Elvis is alive and Aliens exist.

Try posting some facts, it would help your argument. But I think you will find the only sites to post that "information" are all conspiracy theories which have very questionable sources with no actual facts to back hem besides the deluded mind of the site creator and his equally demented ilk.
