You just have like 1% chance of getting pregnant if you take your pill once a day , every day, at the same time. IF you miss like 3 pills in a row then your chance increase of getting pregnant. I have been on the pill for 3 years now and has worked fine against pregnancy. The pill can be used also to shrink cyst on your ovaries and to lighten periods. The pill is great for women who are sexually active.

Ok who told you that birth control does not prevent pregnancy?
Why is it called BIRTH CONTROL and nat PERIOD CONTROL?
If people takes birth control like they are suppost too then they wouldn't end up pregnant. I was on the depo shot for three years and never got pregnant on it.
If you do not use birth control correctly then yea you will get pregnant.
What are you doing to keep from getting pregnant since birth control does not prevent pregnancy?

Most of the time contraception fails because the user did something they were not supposed to do. Certain medications will stop The Pill from working effectively. If you read the little leaflet that comes with the pills carefully the chances of having an accident will be reduced considerably.

I have been on my pill for a year now. I have never got pregnant(knock on wood). It's like 98% effective as long as you take it the same time everyday!! I even missed a pill once and was fine. Also, to answer your question; it does help cramps when it comes to your period and also makes it not last as long. There are hundreds of reasons why women use it. My girlfriend doesn't ovulate, so she was put on the pill so she does

if you have sex you risk getting pregant... its a numbers game... if you use some form of contraception you alter the risk... some 50 to 87% success for condoms to 97 to 99% effective for various hormone contraceptives. you dont use when pregnant because the hormones can effect the fetus. bet never heard the phrase "somewhat pregnant" either you are or you are not... except for rare
cases that you get a empty growth.
many factors influence efficacy.
consider the risks carefully.

there are a lot of variables with OCP's...they can be weak and not prevent ovulation, they can be taken irregularly and not be effective (you can't forget a dose and have intercourse, lest you get pregnant) or she may have been on certain other drugs (antibiotics are an extremely bad offender for disarming the effectiveness of OCP's) that affect the effect of them...or it could have been just bad luck (mother nature putting her own 2cents worth in)
