Wills is correct. The Sundance Kid was considered to be the fastest of the fast, although the type of gunfight depicted in movies seldom took place. About the only incident of that type was a showdown between Wild Bill Hickock and Dave Tutt, who faced each other across a street. Wild Bill was probably the best of the gunmen who were part of the official wild west period, Sundance being of a later era. However, it was said that Hickock did not want anything to do with Hardin.

No-one really knows as they didn't live long enough to find out. In each case the fastest was the survivor, but then he might meet someone a little faster, or he had had a drink so his reactions were a little slow, so he ended up dead. They didn't have the benefit of quick draw competitions like they do now.
