Don't you agree that you should "rephrase" the question?

The use of asterisks to represent impolite words came from the fact that the asterisk was already a symbol "insert any text", such as in programming.
For example in a search engine, if you search "c*", you automatically search any word beginning with the letter "c".
Also, the other commonly available punctuation symbols all had more specific meanings. Examples:
"!!!!!" "@@@@@" "#####" "$$$$$"
If you insert "$$$$$" into a sentence, it's not clear that you're intending to substitute another word. If you wrote,
"Where did the term '$$$$$' come from?" it would sound like you were talking about money.
As far as specific cuss-words...
"F***" in fact entered Middle English from another Germanic source, most likely Scandinavian, though there are plenty of theories that it came from an acronym (such as "Fornication Under Consent of the King").
"Sh**" came from "scitte", later "shite", related to "split, divide, separate," thus is related to the words "shed", "science", "conscience", and really means purging in the sense of extrement.
"D**" is just a shortening of a word we still have in English, "Damnation" which is a theological concept (which is why even in slang the word is heard conjoined with other theological concepts) ;-)
"B***h" as you probably know just meant a female dog.

Throughout history it has always been believed that women and cats had much in common. Both were supposedly languid, seductive, sensual and independent...thus the association of that term with the very essence of womanhood.

It originated with a malfunctioning keyboard, which, whenever the word "term" was typed, would immediately replace the next word with asterisks.

The Romans invented "*****" in 23 AD.
Of course, the meaning of "*****" has changed since then, and several alternate spellings have added to the confusion, but true linguists understand the origin and meaning to "*****".

its just something you put in sentences sometimes when you dont want to write a curseword.
Its a way of censoring the word you actually meant to put in.

can not give you any knowledge without knowing what definition you are looking for. there are plenty of words we use which initials meant a word. as an example C.R.A.P. stood for Christians Revolting Against Pornography.
