Theres no way any harm was done to her or the baby. If the patient recieving the x-rays c/o abdominal pains, they only shoot at the most 3 diagnostic x-rays. Now, considering this was a child 3 should be the limit because you cant miss on a child. Secondly, for the technique used on a child for a PA CXR and a Flat and Upright ABD, its low enough I dont think she would have expirienced anything. As long as she wasn't being directly exposed, she's fine. And again, she was wearing the lead apron which is supposed to be equivilant to .5MM of Pb. So she's fine. And to correct another "answerer", x-ray and US are completely different. Theres no radiation in US. It is a form of imaging, but it uses sonography. And its called a lead "apron" not a gown or a cape.

It depends where she was standing, if she was on the other side of the screen with the radiographer while the x-ray was being taken then there's no risk, if she was actually with her child when the x-ray was being taken then as long as she was wearing the protective clothing (lead apron I'm guessing) she'll probably be fine, x-rays scatter pretty quickly!

Baby will be fine as long as she had the lead apron. Sometimes pregnant women have to have xrays done on their teeth and they can't wait till after the baby. In those cases, their doctors give them permission to get them done as long as they are properly protected.

that would be something to ask her doctor, but if she wore the protective cape than i would think she has nothing to worry about. 3 weeks is early i am suprised she found out so soon.
congrats anyway.

She had the lead gown on, I would not worry. Not that she does know she is pregnant, I would just let the techs know in the future. If she is still concerned, next time she goes to the doctor, tell her to mention it. I am sure he/she will also say not too worry.

If she wore the lead cape it would protect her. She should see a doctor though.
