I'm planning on going to orlando with my family and it's right in the peak of hurricane season we can only go. During work and school reasons. If one occurs what happens to you! I don't want to die!

I am a native Floridian and lived on the coast my whole life. I recently moved to Orlando and went through a hurricane here as well. Like the other poster said, you will know well in advance if a hurricane is coming. And Orlando is so far inland that the severity is not the same as if you were on the coast. I survived Ivan when it hit Pensacola straight on. We were without power for three weeks and water for a week. But that was a rare storm. Usually you get a lot of wind and rain. But should you get caught in a storm you would want to stay in the most sound structure and in the smallest room( they have more outer wall stability) Like a closet or an interior room. Stay away from windows. But more than likely you won't even need this information.

Unless you're going to be in Florida all summer long, I just wouldn't even worry about it. Hurricanes form over the water gradually, and often far from land, so you have usually several days' warning if one is heading toward you. That will give you plenty of time to change your plans. Chances that a catastrophic hurricane will hit Orlando while you're in town are EXTREMELY minimal. Just relax and enjoy your vacation!
