If you are looking for family entertainment in Europe then you need to look at places like Majorca, Menorca, or the Costas are good. The costa dorada has Port Adventura which is a theme park and Marjorca and Menorca have great water parks and loads for the children to do. It all depends on how old the children are in order to recommend a certain place but these are good all round family destinations. Any GOOD travel agent should be able to recommend hotels or apartments that will suit your needs if you tell them exactly what you are looking for, ie near beaches, parks etc.

They are all only a short flight from the uk maximum, 3hours, which is good for your first family holiday.

The best time to book is at the moment as all operators have a sale on for January and most agents will give an extra discount

If your kids are 7 years or older then I would have to say Disney Florida but it depends what you're looking for. Majorca (or any of the Balearic's) are good for first time travellers as it's only a 2 hour flight from UK. Turkey is surprisingly family friendly. Best advice would be: go with a reputable tour operator (Tui / Airtours etc).

We've done all that other stuff - but this year we went on holiday in a camper van. Cost £10 a night to camp, loads of kids for my kids to play with, you can just up sticks and go anywhere you want - we did Legoland Windsor, Natural History Museum, Whipsnade Zoo, went to North Norfolk for the beaches.

We all thought it was the best ever - Cornwall next year.

If you want to go abroad we've done Tunisia loads of times and they love kids and will spoil a family rotten, plus the beaches are great and prices still reasonable

Hey starting today-collect the tockens from The Sun newspaper-it's a thing called £9.50 holidays. Each member of your family gets onto 1 of the many listed holiday parks for £9.50 each-also cut price travel-I got a gold chalet 3 years ago that cost the people next to us a couple of hundred for the same thing-some in Europe. Well worth a look.

if you have a tight budget then disney world may be a bit expensive, but you could look into benidorm in spain, or salou on the costa del sol, myself and family have been to both, there is so much to do in both , amusment park, water park, zoos, all sorts really for every age group! we paid £1200 for 2 adults 2 children to stay at the hotel monika apartments all inclusive for 2 adults and 2 children and we only took £500 spending money for 2 weeks, we had great time and the kids loved it, with our children and others who came with us the ages were 1, 2, 9 and 14! none of them run out of anything to do! good luck and have a great holiday!

Disneyland paris - they do some great package deals on the hotels within the resort and because it's disney - you know you're going to get excellent service.

You could get the train to london and then the eurostar which takes you right to the disney stop. Then, from there you can visit the parks or take the underground and visit different tourist destinations in paris. I've done it twice and it's really the greatest experience. Your kids will never forget it - and neither will you!

I recently stayed in a family hotel in Costa Brava, Spain, organised by Teletext online. The holiday was all inclusive, and the hotel had a swimming pool and a kids club and evening entertainment, all for 320 pounds for me and my fiance (for 4 days). The beach was a short (free) shuttle ride too. It was lovely weather and the hotel was full of families, all of whom seemed to be having a great time.

Have a nose on Going Places or First Choice websites - you can tick boxes on what your requirements are (close to the beach, all inclusive, etc). Spain is quite cheap. You can then read reviews on any hotels on Holiday Truths.com or find other reviews from searching on Google or Ask Jeeves.

Good luck

Personally I don't like Spain. I prefer Cyprus, Greece, or even Egypt! Make sure you go all inclusive it makes life a lot easier! Generally all inclusive destinations have great activities go kids and adults so you'll have a great holiday!
