2]202.8 = 2.028 * 10^2
3]6879 = 6.879 * 10^3

A number is in standard form when it is 1 or more than 1 but not 10 or above...

1.) 7.25 x 10^1
2.) 2.028 x 10^2
3.) 6.789 x 10^3
4.) 3.25 x 10^5
5.) 6 x 10^ -5

just move the decimal point between the 1st and 2nd significat numbers and count how many times it moved and that will be the exponent in the x10...

if it goes left it is positive.
if it goes right it is negative.

Dear jo, In science its important to represent a number in few notations which give not only itas value but also the orders. By order i mean the extent to which the number is large or small.
100 is 10^2. Basically we represent the number in powers of 10 and multiply it by the magnitude. like 200 is given by 2*10^2.
answers are
7.25*10^1
2.02*10^2
6.879*10^3
3.25*10^5
