Depending on make , model and kilometers there a number of reasons for this problem. First, if the calipers have not been serviced recently the guide pins and sliders may sieze and cause the brakes to stick.Second, the rubber flex line to the caliper may have an internal rupture causing the brake fluid to maintain pressure to that wheel.Third, some antilock systems develope a problem in the valving if the brake fluid hasn't been changed at the recommended interval.

Could be a bent caliper, could be a stuck brake piston, could be calipers are offset and one side is dragging, could be a brake system leak or air in the brake line (does the pedal feel firm or real spongy like it's not quite got enough pressure?) Take it to any shop, they should look at if for you for free and at least give you an estimate on what it would cost to fix with no obligation. Matter of fact, it might not hurt to take it to two shops and see how close their stories match.

if the brake calipers is pusking the brake pads in without you applying the brake, then i would certainly check to see if you have enough brake fluid, and if low, then the piston in the brake caliper didn't have enough fluid to pull it back when you let off the brake pedal..have you had any brake work done, like a master cylinder replaced.. could be they didn't bleed the brake system good enough and it could have air in the line..which will make the brake pedal soft in spots, or have you hade brake pads replaced.--could be they were not installed properly.. I have seen it all,,they put both the outer on one side of the car and the inners on the other... have it checked out..

THERE IS OBVIOUSLY A PROBLEM WITH ONE OF THE BRAKE CALIPERS. IT IS IN YOU BEST INTEREST TO HAVE YOUR MECHANIC CHECK THE BRAKES FOR YOU. CONTINUED OPERATION OF A VEHICLE WITH BRAKES IN THIS CONDITION MAY LEAD TO THE CALIPER LOCKING IN A CLOSED POSITION THUS POSSIBLY CAUSING AN ACCIDENT.
