Whenever I have someone invite me to view their web cam I get the message "This web cam is being blocked by your firewall"

control panel....security center....turn off firewall

Don't ever turn off your firewall completely! Go to Start,control panel,sercurity center,windows firewall.Click on Exceptions tab.In that list find webcam and messenger and check them,OK. If they are'nt on that list click on Add Program just under list.In that list find and check on webcam and messenger,OK. Back on first list make sure the cam and messenger are there and checked,OK.Never have to change these setting's.You may have to inform your viewing buddy to do as i told you.Good viewing.

You don't have to turn off your firewall. What you do is add IM to the exception list. But don't click on links in IM though unless you have a good antivirus program.

Lets determine what op sys, and firewall software you have.

If it's win xp firewall:

Also, If your on a network that doesn't allow for this type of communications ie Router Supported Block or other types of system security. You may have to contact your isp or learn "how to forward ports" if port forwarding is necessary:

good question, visit regulate panel, safe practices centre, on the bottom left, click firewall, then after that click exceptions, stick with the academic, i tink click ability to let, untick now to not let, and also you may be needing to let the webcam thingy

Disabling your firewall leaves your computer up to your computer being hacked i would even bother disabling the firewall.
