Because the PC and PS2 version's aren't like this. They let you do whatever you like, create as many people as you like and practically do anything.
Does the PSP version, give you tasks right till the end?

Yes it does. I completed the whole game in a week & it is just basically all tasks. Although Sims 2 pets (on the psp) is like the normal Sims though

yes the sims game on psp does give you tasks to do. When u do the tasks u can earn money for doing the tasks

yeah, its the same on the nintendo ds, yet like you say, on the pc and ps2 you arent given tasks.
