I have been a member of Ebay for quite some time, and hadn't had any problems with them until now. I had a couple of auctions going this week (Jan. 2007) that I was really excited about, as they were getting very good bids. One of the auctions ended last night, and so I had sent the winner an invoice for the item. I was planning on checking my ebay account this morning to see if I had received any emails from the buyer, or if payment had been made yet. However, when I logged on to my account, I got a message saying my account was suspended for being involved in activities that violate their policy. I've never done such a thing, as I always followed the rules on ebay, and had never gotten any complaints or warnings about a possible suspension.
Not only that, but since Ebay is in cahoots with Paypal, my paypal account has been put on limited access. However, the reason that paypal gave me, was different than Ebay's reason, and both were vague. Now, I'm out of a lot of money..and upset.

Barbara, I don't see how anyone could have reported me for selling off of ebay, because I don't.
I hadn't received any warnings from ebay, and my feedback score was 100%. I did have a mystery auction on there, that was getting really high bids, but I followed all of the rules to list it. Plus, if that were in violation, then I would have just gotten a message first stating that the particular auction was pulled...I didn't get such a notice. My paypal account message stated that an ebay member had made one or more "item not as described" or "item not received" complaints, but yet there is not record of it, and I have only had one auction end with the buyer sending me payment so far, and that transaction was completed with + feedback even. They got their item, and I got paid. No complaints as far as I know. Could I have been a victim of a hijacking? Could it be something else? I did have one member threatening me just this weekend..maybe that has something to do with it?

The have a resolution and dispute center. There will be an email showinh up, if not already, advising you of the particulars of the violation and you can act accordingly. If you have not reeceived such, you can either call paypal via telephone or email ebay--Good Luck

I have recently started selling on Ebay (have been buying from them for ages though) and I checked every little thing out before I started to make sure I was not going to be in violation of any rules. ANd they have SOOOO many rules and things that you can't sell. It's actually mind boggling the things I know I have seen FOR sale that technically, SHOULDN'T be for sale. I mean, the list is a mile long. I'm just saying, you may have had something on there that, to them, was a no-no, but you didn't know it because the list is so long and so vague.
I bought some hoodia gordonii plants and seeds off Ebay, and later found the guy was banned from selling this particular plant because it is endangered (and used like crazy for weight loss.) I wasn't buying it for that...they are neat plants! But-- he has a huge ranch FULL of them, that he takes cuttings and gets seeds from every year, so he has like literally thousands of them. And he's not the only one that has them! They were not stripped from the wild, etc... anyway he's fighting that, but he probably won't win.
I would email them , or even call them, and ask for all the details. You pay good money to have your stuff on Ebay. Personally I would think it would have been nice if they could have told you something first, like, take this off immidately or we will suspend your account, rather than just doing it.
Good luck!

Best way is to contact E bay or Paypal and make an appeal. I can give you a link that deals with Payapl & Ebay transactions through Paypal. PayPal is one of the most popular online money transfer systems widely used for online auctions, pay to surf programs, e-books and purchase of low value goods. It is now a part of the online auction website eBay. More details available at

The same thing happened to me, the only difference is that I knew I was selling items that were on the verge of violation. There should have been some sort of message telling you what you need to do to get your accounts back (ebay and paypal) that should clue you in on what you did wrong. Believe me, neither ebay or paypal want to keep your accounts suspended indefinitely because that is how they make their money.

I have been using Ebay for years, not as a seller but as a buyer. I would write Ebay and ask for an explanation. If you have a 100% feedback you have been doing something right and they certainly owe you an explanation> I also use PayPal and you are correct, if you have problem with one you are going to have with the other. I wish you Luck..

Somebody reported you for "side sales", selling goods outside the site that didn't benefit ebay or misrepresenting products. I am sure by contacting them, they will give you the reasons. How have your feedbacks been? Any arguments with any buyers or sellers lately?
You can retrieve any ebay email in your personal email account, you don't have to go into the site.
I'm sorry to hear that, I would be upset, too, I have used ebay forever...in fact, for all my Christmas shopping this year.
Good Luck!
