Our store had to limit it's hours but there still is so much to do. In short time period. My boss is from NY and said it is there. But I was wondering if MA. is the same.

I am pretty sure it's illegal in all states.They can't collect taxes for the wages and if you got hurt during those hours the company would get in big trouble.

A lot of states are outlawing it these days. The thing is that if you're off the clock and get hurt, you can't get workman's comp and usually end up having to sue. That's why it is company policy almost everywhere. Legislation is following suit for it's own reasons one of wich is the clogged justice system.

It is national labor law that if someone who is subject to wage-hour laws (basically, not a manager), they need to be paid time and half for hours worked exceeding 40 hours in a week.

Yes, if your manager or anyone else tries to get you to work off the clock report them to the department of labor.
