Hi,
we have been using oracle for 3 years now.
To be honest the disadvantages are:
Expensive licenses and support
Advantages for us were:
Reliability
Security

Like most RDBMSs it is accessed using SQL, so no advantages or disadvantages there. It is a very stable RDBMS and has support second to none.
This is always assuming you do mean the Oracle databases and not their commercial software.

In comparison to what?
It is a database, which give it an advantage over a potato when it comes to storing data, but when it comes to making chips it is at a major disadvantage.

MySQL=Free unless you use it in a commercial environment. MySQL is great for lightweight applications. In some places there are missing features. When I looked at it a few years ago I thought that things like ROLLBACK were missing but they appear to have been added now. Oracle=very expensive but should be able to run the most demanding application.
