It is certainly possible, however, there may not be as much DNA extracted from ear wax as you would see from blood, saliva, etc. Any body fluid containing a number of epithelial cells could yield results, because cells contains nuclei, which is where DNA is stored. In forensics, blood, semen and saliva are typically used to analyze DNA. Hair and bone samples, will not typically yield high nuclear DNA results, but will usually be good for mitochondrial DNA analysis. The same could be said for body fluids, as there are more mitochondrial DNA per cell than nuclear DNA.
