In "Curious George Finds A Job", George escapes from the zoo then proceeds to take on a series of menial jobs. The man in the yellow hat dresses in a style akin to that of colonial masters, and George is supposed to operate under his direction. But George is "just too curious" to do what the man in the yellow hat tells him.

What are your thoughts on this matter?

@Miss Interpret: Smiddy suggests nothing, but wonders if authors Hans Augusto Rey and Margret Rey did. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Curious_George#Interpretations

George is a monkey most curious--therefore, the state of unchanging servitude is a bane to his wandering soul...

Either that, or George has mastered himself and can no longer be swayed by the sub-cerebral connection between the yellow hat (banana=reward for accepting a perpetual subservient state to which lasting satisfaction remains most elusive) and his desire to remain free in order to fulfill the calling of his most abundant and most consuming state of endless curiosity...

...perhaps George is more 'man' than 'monkey' after all...

An animated one.

George, like most animals in children's stories, represents a child. He wants to be good, but can't resist trouble. He is a tool for showing children that 'bad' behavior invariably had negative consequenses, and thus keepling them under a semblance of control.
