Interestingly, I saw an incredible video last year of a kind of snake that was actually learning how to fly using amazing principles of aerodynamics. I'll go see if I can find that video for you. The absolute beauty of their physical bodies and their determination to fly just might help you to overcome your fear of snakes. Many people have a phobia for snakes. ( I'm afraid of spiders.) I'll be back!
Found the exact set of videos that I saw last year! (I'm getting good at this computer stuff for an ancient old thing.) Click on this link, then on "movies" then onto each short clip. Remember, as you watch them, that all life is precious and these little gutsy critters are really quite remarkable:

Later: I have to tell you this. I wrote the above about coming to appreciate snakes just to help you somehow. My intentions were good, but, not very meaningful, I'm afraid because a friend of mine, later in the day over coffee here at my home, when I mentioned your question about flying snakes and that I had admitted to being afraid of spiders asked, "What would you do if spiders could fly?" Well, the vision I had then of big, hairy flying spiders lofting around in the air gave me a serious case of the heebie jeebies! I feel like I can relate now better you what you were feeling. : )

NO, snakes can not fly, however some do dwell in trees. If the snake is poisonous and it bites you yes you will get sick, depending on the snake you may very likely die without IMMEDIATE medical attention. Snakes can not hear and see almost nothing, they sense food and predators by motion and heat. Babies tend to be more lethal then adults, (mainly because when you run across little ones there are many, (several bites) should you spook them. I've had snakes, I've been bitten by snakes. I'm still here and yes I would have another.
P.S. Learned something today also, nice video link patois. Thanks for sharing

No they can't fly in the literal sense of the word.

Depending on type of snake, I assume you mean venomous kind, it literally depends on whether the snake injects any venom or not, they don't automatically empty their venom sacs, and how you react to it, as in the case of the British Adder.

But all snake bites are potentially very nasty, due to what maybe on their fangs at the time of bite.

So if a highly venomous snake bit you, injected sufficient venom, and you then killed it, if no help/anti-venom (correct type), emergency aid wasn't available then you would most likely die.

But you have to remember that too much anti-venom can be just as deadly as not enough. I wonder how many poor snakes have taken the blame for too much anti-venom being administered by accident?

Only flying tree snakes sort of 'fly'. If a poisonous snake bites you you're pretty doomed whether you kill it or not. Depends on the snake, depends on the amount of poison. You'd have to be pretty unlucky to get on the wrong side of a nasty one though. Chill out - nothing to be scared of.

Snakes can "fly" but similarly to "flying" squirrels, they flatten their stomachs into a concave shape, allowing them to glide from tree to tree, only some snakes can do this and they mostly live in Asia. The only way a snakebite will kill you is if it is venemous, but unless you know how to identify venemous snakes and tell them apart from non-venemous snakes, you run the risk of killing an innocent animal. Educate yourself about snakes and you'll no longer be afraid of them, they are wonderful animals and there is no reason to be afraid of those species that are not deadly to you.

I don't tghink they 'fly' like just take off from the ground a fly but they can fall from trees or glide around which can seem sort of like flying. If the snake is poisonous, and it bites you, yes, you will be poisoned. If you kill it and it did NOT bite you, no, you won't be poisoned.

They don't fly but some can sort of throw themself tree to tree and it looks like flying. Very cool. If you get bitten you get bitten. If you kill the snake it will be easier for hospital to make identification and give appropriate treatment but catching and killing a snake is a risky business and you could just get bitten again.

Sounds to me like silicone breast-implants save lives. Women travelling in snake-infested regions should all insist on being pumped up like Dolly Parton.
