It gives you both but it also depends on what courses you are taking.

It's always a good thing to have a college degree to fall back on if your present job is lost. It looks great on resumes because it shows the employer that you have the skill and knowledge to do the job you are applying for. I have several so that if I lose one job I have other things I can do.

If you embrace and take advantage of your education, yes, it will be a great asset. If you just go through the motions, not so much.

But you pretty much won't get anyone to look at your resume if you don't have the degree to back it. At least for white collar work.

It does both, but a large % of grads don't stay in the positions they studied for.
