Spotting is just what it sounds like, small spots of blood... like a splatter.

bleeding is a constant flow of fresh blood, spotting is darker usually and just happens at small intervals. I spotted with second child and was really worried and went to the doctor. The baby was fine but the placenta had started to tear away from my lining and I had to take it easy. The tearing however did lead to all my test coming back with high levels so it led to more testing for different things just to be on the safe side. Good Luck,

spotting can be fresh blood (ie you have sex and your cervix gets hit and you can bleed a little) However it's usually not fresh blood and its more about the quantity.

Bleeding is considered to be more like a period. Where there is a definate volume of blood (ie- your underwear look like you are starting your period and you werent wearing a pad) where spotting is more like if you were to get a cut on your skin and it would bleed a little. Usually spotting is notice when you wipe and you have blood on the toilette paper.

bleeding is red blood, spotting would be considered like a light darkish brown or some other color other than bright red blood. hope that helps.
