They can learn a lot of things, but if youre planning on training one you better have some serious patience. My hamsters all learned where the doors of their cages were so they'd chew on them all night til I took them out. Half of them learned how to escape from their cages.. I had one hamster (my favorite hamster of all time) who would escape constantly, make it all the way downstairs and find me in the room I was in. I thought this was a fluke because I was usually in the same room....but once I was in a different room at the other end of the house..I walked out of that room and sure enough he was headed right towards that room. so, they LEARN, a lot of stuff....but as for training, I've never tried, I'm not that patient..
...and no offense to my lil hammies.....but mice and rats are a lot smarter than hamsters.

I think so i taught my hamster alot of things he's very smart. I guess it depends on the hamster.

Yes. If they couldn't learn, they'd never learn to walk, eat, breathe, etc. A creature without the ability to learn is dead.

Yes. Even less evolved animals can. Species of this family, like rats and mice are often used in research. (Finding cheese in a maze.)

yes. They can learn their name. Mine can sit up, stand, dance a little, jump and come.

yes, they learn thru repetition, doing things over and over, use their name when you talk to them mine come to me when they are in their exercise ball on the floor.
