If you're trying to get pregnant, the time you'll be most fertile begins one day prior to the day you ovulate and lasts for three days after you ovulate. Ovulation is the process by which your body releases one or more eggs from your ovary. If the egg is fertilized and successfully implants, you're pregnant.
There are several signs that could indicate you're ovulating. Learn to recognize these changes, and you can boost the odds of getting pregnant by having sexual intercourse during this optimal time.

Physical Symptoms of Ovulation
The following observable symptoms can indicate ovulation:

Breast tenderness
Abdominal cramps or twinges
Increased vaginal discharge
Change in position and firmness of the cervix (ask your doctor how to detect cervix changes)

Ovulation Signs: Basal Body Temperature
According to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG), immediately following ovulation most women experience a slight but detectable rise in their normal body temperature. By monitoring your basal body temperature first thing in the morning before you rise on a daily basis, and tracking the results on a basal body temperature chart, it's possible to determine that ovulation has occurred. However, conditions such as fever, restless sleep, and exertion can affect the accuracy of the temperature readings.

Ovulation Signs: Cervical Mucus
According to ACOG, another way to detect impending ovulation is to monitor your vaginal secretions or cervical mucus by checking regularly for mucus at the opening of the vagina. In general, your vagina produces the least amount of secretions immediately following the conclusion of your menstrual cycle.
The amount and consistency of vaginal secretions follow this pattern for most women:
Soon after your menstrual cycle, you might notice a sticky or "tacky" vaginal secretion.
Immediately prior to ovulation, most women usually detect increased vaginal secretions that are wet and slippery (similar to the consistency of raw egg white). Generally, your body produces the greatest amount of this type of vaginal discharge is on the day of ovulation.
Immediately following the day of ovulation, your vaginal discharge gradually becomes thicker in consistency, and less is secreted.
Be mindful of the following factors that could affect the amount and consistency of your vaginal secretions:

Vaginal infection or sexually transmitted disease
Sexual excitement
Use of lubricants during intercourse

According to Planned Parenthood, the following factors might also influence your vaginal secretions:

Douching
Breastfeeding
Perimenopause
Surgery performed on the cervix

Hello there. I am happy to help you figure out the days that you are ovulating.
I think the most important thing is to keep track of the number of days between your periods. If you are regular that will make it much easier. You will ovulate half way between the period you just had and the one that you are expecting. IF you have your periods every 28 days then this means that you will ovulate on the 14th day. Remember that if the number of days between periods is different then this day will be different also.
It is also important to pay attention to your body and to the secretions that your body produces. During ovulation your cervix will produce a wet, almost watery fluid. When the levels of Estrogen are dominant, this is when you ovulate and when the fluid is thin and watery. As Progesterone levels rise the fluid becomes drier and rather sticky, within two weeks you will start your period. You can see how paying attention to these signs can give you a good idea of when you are most fertile. You will have about a 5 day window of opportunity when you can get pregnant. It is a matter of paying attention to what is going on with your body.
Basal body temperatures indicates ovulation AFTER it has occurred and requires charting temperatures for several months to see a developing pattern. You can find information about this on the net and it would be too long for me to try to explain it here.
There are changes in your cervix that coincide with the cervical fluid that I mentioned. Unless you are familair with how to touch your cervix this would also be a bit complicated to explain here. Write to me if you want me to explain.
I think that the best thing for you to do would be to figure out your most fertile days based on the pattern of your periods, number of days between periods. Figure out what day you are most likely to ovulate and try to make love the day before, during and after. This should give you a good chance of conceiving. Before ovulation is a slightly better chance because the cervical fluid will help the sperm to live longer and to reach the egg more quickly. This gives them a better chance to fertilize the egg. If they get there too late the egg is no longer viable. It is only viable for 12 to 24 hours after being released.
I hope I have answered your question and if I have not or if you would like more information on anything I have mentioned feel free to write to me.
Take care and good luck honey. Have fun trying! Babies should be conceived in joy and love.
Lady Trinity~ p.s. I would love to talk to you about those two positive tests that you had! Weird!

checking your basal temperature, knowing when u are due to ovulate, ovulation calenders, I used a kit and was pregnant the next month. They are expensive but I think they are worth it.

I would also get a 2nd opinion on your previous pregnancy tests. Its VERY rare to get 2 positives and not be pregnant, Im not convinced u r not!! I hope your doc was wrong, I think he may have been!! Good luck

I know from having 4 children here that you usually ovulate from day 12-16, counting day 1 as the day your cycle starts. Every one of my children were conceived in that time frame here. As well as having a milky white discharge on the days that I was ovulating.
