There are great answers here but here's my 2 cents. Disassemble your 870 and run your finger around the inside of the barrel (receiver side) to feel if there is a small burr or ruffly polished spot. When you shot a shotgun shell the brass expands a little. The low budget wal mart ammo will do it a little more than the premium ammo. This can catch the shell and stop up the works. If you have a shell catch also inspect it for a gouge or scratch. If this is the case take it back and get the barrel replaced. You bought it new and you deserve it to be right.

For me, it's a race right now. Now I'm moving forward, but in 5 minutes, I'll be sliding backwards, and in 10 minutes, I'll be caged in a holding pattern and nobody knows for how long I'll have to stay there. I feel like I'm being kept in one of those huge tea cups found in amusement parks. They keep spinning and spinning and spinning, with no purpose and no certain direction... That's me.

Just kind of falling, but the ground doesn't seeem to be getting any closer, so I'm not thinking about it right now.
