About a decade ago and before if you bought a cd/ record/tape you would appreciate its value as an album and listen to the entire album many times before going out and buying another one. Nowadays possibly due to the advent of internet downloading and albums being made available for free, do you feel that there is so much music out there that its hard to actually listen to an entire album and not just a couple of songs from it?

No I don't think music has lost it's value. I think that people just don't appreciate it like they did. These days with the younger folks (geez that makes me sound old) if there is no video clip and they don't hear it repeatedly on TV and the radio then they think it is no good. There are alot of great albums being produced that may only have 1 hit on it but sit down, turn the volumn up and listen to the whole album a couple of times... you just might end up going .. hey this is great music even though its not thrashed in the clubs or on video hits. There are a heap of albums come out all the time that have lots of great songs that are actually better than the single hit song on them. Just sit down and listen to the whole album. You may be surprised.

I do not think music in general has lost its value....there is just more of it coming out now a days, which of course leads to more music that isn't worth listening to. That does not mean good music is still not being made. I would say about 80% of the CDs I own, I can listen to them all the way through, which is over 100 albums. There are many CDs that are put out just to make money, but there are also so many good CDs that artists put their heart and soul into that are worth listening from beginning to end.

Yes! It was so hard for me to even get through an entire CD, that I just started downloading the songs I wanted off of iTunes. I think that part of it has to do with the artists, though. It seems like they don't spend enough time on the albums, and there are only like 4 or 5 good songs on their entire CD.

I know what your saying... for me no, i have soul seek and every album i download i listen too and i have to burn it to a CD anyway because i couldnt listen to it in the car otherwise.... i do have an iPod but i still havent figured out (nor do i want to) how to work it in my car, but what i do on the iPod is probably what most people do on a regular basis, they take a few songs, put it on there and dont even remember what they are listening to LoL... ohh well I guess us musicians will just have to find some new crazy way to impress you guys again, like "video Albums" or somthing, that would be awesome :) relese it on a totally Non-copywritable DVD and blow your minds with visual effects.. not only will us musicians be Music masterminds, but multi-media masterminds... More money for us :)

I partly agree with you, I prefer older music..much more quality, something good in the music. These days I don't usally listen to all songs on an album I buy, but I do have a few that I'll listen to over and over again.

its the artists lack of talent. not the internet. to many artist want to be to many things that they half ass their music and instead use it for a jumping point to be something else.

in the case of beyonce she once stated she wanted to be a oscar winning actress (now i personally think her music is crap and laughable) but she's case in point. no one can name any of ther songs but what's being played on the radio-but i'm not picking on her-i'm just using her as an example of what's wrong with todays "artists"

to many now a days want to be to many things. if anything the net has allowed us to SEE MORE NEWER BETTER NON MAINSTREAM ACTS.

its added to the music experience-not subtracted.

Yeah, but a good song still gives me goose bumps, or makes me want to bust a move!
