Swearing and cursing are used for the same action of using inappropriate language. However technically they are different. Swearing is using God's name in vain or swearing disrespectfully on your family. Cursing is speaking damningly about someone. In today's American English they are both used the same.

No.
Look at it this way. In a court of law, you use the bible to swear to speak the truth (not to curse to speak the truth)

YES, THEY COULD BE SYNONYMS. BUT THEY ALSO HAVE DIFFERENT MEANINGS.
SWEAR MIGHT MEAN THAT YOU PROMISE SOLEMNLY" I SWEAR THAT I DIDN'T STEAL THE MONEY." OR I SWEAR IN MY KID'S LIFE TO SERVE YOU"
CURSE MIGHT MEAN PUT A SPELL ON, BUT A BAD ONE. LIKE "THE CURSE OF THE MUMMY"."THE WITCH CURSED ME TO ROAM THIS WORLD ALONE FOREVER"

They are the same thing. And if you use that kind of language around a strict grandmother you end up with a bar of soap in your mouth.
