absolutely!
there were way too many "big time" actors in the film - each with their overly dramatic scene.
I'm typically a big Scorsese fan - but this (Infernal Affairs) remake wasn't a character study - like his best films are. This one was a Hollywood production that was way too glossy.
I never believed for a moment that I was watching an authentic story with original, unique characters. Instead, I'm watch Jack hamming it up, Leo pretending to be stressed, Marky Mark trying to be tough, Alec acting like a bastard, Matt Damon trying to be coy, Martin Sheen phoning it in... etc, etc, etc.
The plot became totally absurd especially at the end where stupidity is piled on ridiculousness. The characters do things that are implausable - only to serve the screenwriter's purpose. Characters are only smart when the sceenplay needs them to be. And they're only violent when it makes the scene more dramatic.
The last shot of a rat scurrying in front of the window with the Mass. State House in the background was something you'd expect to find on a student filmmaker's reel.
Scorsese seemed to have spent too much time giving every actor a big scene for the Academy's consideration. So the plot/story suffered.
The Hong Kong films that do this type of drama do a great job of making the film about 2 actors on opposite sides who become close friends and in the end have to choose between loyalty and honor. John Woo would have done a much better job.

I think so. A lot of the stories in there were not explained.
Don't know if I missed something but what was the point in the pregnancy story. The acting was good though. I like the ending, really wasn't expecting that to happen.

No, I don't agree. Brilliant film with great plot and very good acting (Leonardo Di Caprio was unexpectedly good, not mention the one and only Jack Nickolson). But I admit it's one of those films that either you like so much or totally dislike.

It was a little overlong and it could have been better because of it. The pregnancy plot wasn't really that well done but the acting was really on form, the plot was great and the ending was just amazing and really unexpected.

Exceptionally great film. One of my favourite of last year.

Yes.

My mates raved about it, the reviews made it shine, but I thought it was a good cast portrayed in bad directing and a poor storyline. The best thing about that film (for me), was the soundtrack.
