I want to send an image in the body of an email that does'nt arrive as an attachment.I am using outlook express and even if it is set as either stationary or background it still arrives with an attachment?

But if i receive an email from say Irish Ferries it will have images within that e-mail that are not attachments.I.e a picture of a ship or other images

You can't, that is the way how e-mail works. How attachments are presented differs from e-mail client to client, so even if it works with one, it won't with others.

You may create a web page and put a link in the e-mail if you want to control the appearance.

Depends on your software, I think. I just use Outlook Express. I have an option to Insert a File Attachment, or Insert a Picture. The picture is embedded as part of the HTML of the message. If someone else has set their email program to display text only, as opposed to HTML, then any pictures you've embedded will not get through. Or they may have their program set to specifically block images in email messages and only the attachments can be downloaded.

It also depends on what client the recipient is using to view their email. If they are using something like g-mail, they have the option to view it without downloading it. It's usually e-mail clients that are strictly web-based (i.e. Yahoo!, G-Mail, Hotmail, Mail.com, etc) that allows you to view email without downloading it no matter how the sender attaches the image.

You can send the e-mail as HTML format in the e-mail you put the image for example .

No easy and straightforward way. Use an image capturing program or print screen - paste trick.

either insert --> picture

or just copy and paste.
