If you're 5 weeks pregnant then the baby was only conceived three weeks ago and is not much more than a clump of cells at this stage.

Edit: to the answer above mine: pregnancy weeks start from the first day of the last period. Conception usually takes place about two weeks after that. Therefore this foetus is about 3 weeks into its life.

I had a scan at 6 weeks and a few days after cramping and bleeding. They tried to do an abdominal scan but said that the embryo was too small to detect that way so they performed an internal scan with a probe. This then revealed the pregnancy to them. You dont say whether the scan they carried out was internal or not? Did you have a positive preg test?

Hi,i had to go for a scan when i was 8 weeks pregnant and my now little boy, was really tiny and just looked like a little dot, couldnt do anything (just had a look)because i was so early in pregnancy! Dont worry yourself, you wait till you go back again at 12 weeks and see your baby then. Its amazing!
Only 6 weeks to go!!
Cramps are normal, if you get sickness, that will start soon too!
Good Luck

5 weeks is very early to be having a scan. Why are you having a scan so early? The baby is literally just a cluster of cells at this point.

yes. Its WAY too warly to see the baby and the cramps are normal. If heavy bleeding/clots/severe pain occur then worry otherwise it is normal. Try to chill out honey, its normal not to see anyhting yet, i didn't at that stage and im now 20 weeks. Good luck

its cuz the baby's so tiny! only a few mm's at best. don't worry too much, they were prob mainly hunting 4 any problems with ur womb rather than the baby.

to the answer below mine...she ifs 5 weeks gone, how culd the baby only b 3? ur maths is a bit out there my dear
