im black (not that it matters but a lot of ppl stereotype) and this is my least favorite kind of music. i think that a lot of it is sending a negative message to our generaation (im 17) but on the other hand most mainstream genres of music give off some kind of negative messages they just arent as forward as rap.(i listen to pretty much everything s i know) i do understand that rap is an expression of the average minority's experience in the ghettos of america and their struggles, concerns, etc. ive heard so many ppl put down rap music saying "all black rappres do iis get high and get hos" well...a lot of other ppl might say"white ppl listen to rock music and get drunk all the timme." sterotypes are over rated. anyway. do you like it or not? just try to appreciate all music seeing as rap/hip hop/ r and b stem from the same origins as rock music.

U dont seem to like urself very much. U are black love...be proud of it.U dont have to go out of ur way tellin everyone how ur skin is brown but u dont like anything black people do including the guyz. Most people that is all races find black men masculine and hot u dont have to keep screaming i dont date black men..ur still young though...before u get older and it becomes a problem, please speak to ur mum about the way u feel about urself.learn to love and appreciate urself and ur culture(if u have one) Then ull be trully happy and learn that race really doesnt matter.Black is pride!Ur the first black person ive met that isnt proud....

Dnt know if rnb stemed from rock but rock was originated by a black man... might be useful for u to know that. U need help luv...hope u find it sooner rather than later...x

yes because people have to understand that there are two types of hip hop..the mainstream=fake hip hop and the underground is the real hip hop, underground speaks on topics that is somewhat to an extent educational mostly in vocabulary and metaphors. it gives a good visual image in mind while mainstream just blabbers about violence and sex
"Hip Hop has never been the same since '88
Since it became a lucrative profession as a misconception
in the movement in any direction as progression
Even though of the potency of it lessens
big money industries writing checks to suppress the question"-canibus

"If the protons don't attack the retina, all we'd ever see is black
No ability, no extraocular motility
Silly emcees can't see me lyrically or visually"-canibus

for those that hate rap i understand, mainstream has ruined rap music

As I am much older than probably most of you are, I grew up when most all the good songs of rock n roll were by blacks and we didn't care what color they were.....even then was before intergration! lol.....as for rap...I just don't like it, don't listen to it.but who is to say others shouldn't as long as the words are not negative to the young people?
The TV shows and a lot of music is sending out too much bad behavior to the kids and young adults today and think it shows. Hey I may be older but am no prude...I love music, dancing, having fun too...but there is a limit.

I don't to be honnest...
I mean not for easy listening, and not the common/pop one also.
and there's also other music that i don't really like to easylistening to it.

But, that doesn't mean i don't apreciate rap, the only music - and art - that i don't apreciate is pop.

For me rap is not negative, i don't believe that there's any think called negative music - or negative art, everything is good.

To apreciate anything, you must learn it's history , the backgrounds, what's the idea, where and when it came from, how, by who, etc. then you can learn to apreciate it.

Rap wasn't bad, it has purpose (other then money-commerce), and it serve it's purpose well...

Hope this help
Bless You

No, it's degrading to men and women alike. I get embarrassed watching those videos. They're damn near porn sometimes.

I cant wait until I find 50cent and P. Diddy Cd's right next to Flock Of Seagulls and Duran Duran records (uh, that would be in the "has been" bin).

yea i like it i like soft rock too, my boyfriend is white so we expose eachother to both!!!! i like when rock and rap combine, like jay-z and linkin park that was tight.

also black people created rock and then elvis presley took over, so i dont get why blacks hate it so much, i dont like the kind of rock that screams but i like soft rock!!!!
