Not necesarily. While formal education is important, proces of secondary socialization also teaches the individual their role (or place, depending on ur viewpoint) in the structure of the society. Functionalists see the education system as being important for ensuring that the most important postions in society are filled by the bes people (Davis and Moore) while Marxist see the spread of the hidden cirriculum. Yes if you include in the education the art of being a person. Good education is essential to us all and our lives would be quite poor without it. Knowing facts and figures has to go side by side with knowing each other. We must have empathy with others we must be well mannered we must do our jobs to the best of our ability so that our lives entwined with others brings out the best in and for everyone.

Absloutely, there are so many people who live in dysfunctional families that don't know about simple ways of behaving. There is no respect for each other or members of the public service, Police, Fireman, nurses etc. Some people have to be taught in schools about how to interact in the community as they have no knowlledge of it from home or the community they live in. Some council estates are like war zones.
