everybody refers 2 the cowboys as; "americas team". why?

i am a vikings fan til i die. but as far as i am concerned: the new england patriots r americas team (by name alone).

the "boys" r a prime example of what u get from texas.

Well the whole America's Team thing was because back in the day they were all a bunch of golden boys and then Troy Aikmen comes along and kicks that right back up!

I agree with you though the Patriots are America's Team now. We love em! Who in their right mind dislikes Tom Brady? They're a bunch of hard working guys with a blue collar attitude and America has always eaten that up.

Americas Team, is, and will always be, The Dallas Cowboys. Are you serious, I dont understand why everyone that isnt a Cowboy fan dogs on us so much!!! And still dont give us the respect that we deserve.. On Thanksgiving who do you watch?? On Christmas who do you watch?? The Dallas Cowboys are Americas Team, hands down.. New Englad Patriots are a boring football team to watch and noone cares about the Patriots seriously... Now the Saints on the other hand, are not the new Americas Team, we just want them to win, so they can pretty much stop complaining still. Gives them hope and shuts them up.

The cowboys gave America something to think about other than Desert Storm. Now after 911The Patroits" win the Super Bowl?!??! America was all about being "Patriotic" at that time. The New England Patroits are now America's team. Especially with Tom Brady as QB, he can do no wrong.

The Cowboys stopped being America's team when Troy Aikman went down with concussions and retired.

New England? Dallas? Is it just me or is the whole americas team thing a front runner? NE wasnt even thought of as a tem until they won a superbowl and now they are americas team what a bunch of sh** that is. That is a phrase started in Dallas by cowboy fans. Just like they say the hole in Dallas stadium is so GOD can watch his favorite team on Sunday. Every team is americas team considering the NFL is in America. Right?

There is no America's Team. Not eveyone in the country cheers for the same team and we don't hold tryouts amongst all active players to see who should represent the nation.

There are 32 teams in America, all with fan bases made up of Americans (mostly). Time to throw the America's Team bulls**t out the window.

After the Cowboys won their 1st Tex Schram instructed the office staff in the off-season to answer the phone "Dallas Football Cowcoy, America's Team".

This was reported either in the "Scorecard" section of Sports Illustrated or in an article about the Cowboys after that Superbowl.

I was told it was because Tex Schraum was the first to use professional cheerleaders instead of high school cheerleaders. It caught everyones eye.
As for America team that really depends on who is hot at the time. If we had a dynasty that would be America's Team

Dallas was never America's team I'm from Pittsburgh and nobady would ever say that up here! I think that was just a Texas thing and ESPN just over played it, the same with the Patriots, the Steelers are America's team!!!!

I believe America's new team will be the Saints. Especially if they can pull off a couple playoff wins and take home the Lombardi Trophy. Also a diehard Vikings fan! Been following them since the Joey Browner days.

It was started by NFL Films in the 70s. Basically, the Cowboys had a run of successful years, and developed a big bandwagon following around the country.
