You could start with plugs and wires, then distributor/coil. TPS sensor is possible, but I would think mass air flow sensor is more likely. Maybe even the O2 sensor. It could also be a partially plugged catalitic converter or bad throttle body.

If your check engine light is on, go to advanced auto parts and get them to run a computer scan..its free..if the TPS shows up, then replace it and also go ahead and clean you throttle body..carbon builds up in it also, and it will make you gas pedal a lot smoother..do not spray carburator cleaner into the throttle body.. spary on rag and wipe out the inside, then you can spray some starting fluid in it to remove every thing else.Have you checked to make sure you don't have any vacuum leaks, and have you done a power brake to see if its a skip...Good luck.

difficult idle exhibits misfire. each of your engine's cylinders could hearth real and contained in the striking order for the engine to run easily. If one or more effective of the cylinders isn't firing because it really is going to, the engine's stability is thrown off. This causes the engine to shake and hence, the total vehicle would shake besides, (like a tank). the most effortless causes of misfiring are : undesirable spark plugs, undesirable spark plug wires and, a worn distributor cap. A vacuum leak may also reason difficult idle besides. Any of those will adversely impact the firing of the air/gasoline mix contained in the engines cylinders. also in case your automobile has a minimum of 50,000 mi. on it, and it probable does, it truly is achieveable between the valves may be burned or out of adjustment. this can kill the corresponding cylinders compression and, without ideal compression, misfiring effects.

Yes it could...but before buying parts, I think you should check for a vaccum leak. Check your EGR as well. Unplug it and put a screw into the vaccum line going to it and see if it smoothes out. Good luck.
