I woke up late this morning and my eye was glued shut with eye goobies (Sorry for the info) so i go into the bathroom and my eye hurts. Almost like something is in it but nothing is. It's all red, not pink.

Do I really need a doctor for this?
Will it clear itself out?

I'm not a doctor but it happens. It should be good to go in a day if not use some eye drops.

I had pink eye over Thanksgiving. It sounds to me like you got bacterial pink eye. I had viral pink eye. The only difference between the two that I can describe is viral has more of a watery discharge and your eye doesn't get glued shut overnight whereas bacterial pink eye has more of a yellowish sticky discharge and your eye will likely swell shut overnight. You should get it checked out because viral pink eye just needs to run its course, just like a cold, but bacterial pink eye requires antibiotics to help it clear. The only thing that gave me any relief was artificial tears called Systane. You can buy those at any pharmacy. I was also told by my eye doctor that bacterial pink eye goes away much faster than viral. Mine took about 3 weeks to go away, so if you have bacterial, it shouldn't last that long as long as you get it treated.

Wash your hands as often as possible, especially after touching your eye. Pink eye is extremely contagious. I was lucky and managed to not give it to anyone, but I also washed my hands a hundred times a day.

sounds like pink eye to me, you can get polysporin eye drops over the counter at the pharmacy. You can also wash your eye with baby shampoo and warm water use a new face cloth each time and wipe from the inside out. Make sure to wash your hands well after wards with soap and water. It is infectious so be careful not to touch your eyes and then touch another person.

Yes, it sounds like bacterial conjunctivitis (pink eye). If it was caused by a virus, the discharge would be watery and not glue your eyelids shut.

Anti biotic eye drops are now available over the counter from pharmacies in the UK. They contain chloramphenicol. If you live outside the UK, ask at the pharmacy. It may be necessary to get a prescription from your doctor.

yes it sounds like pink eye. 1/2 cases of pink eye are viral and seeing a dr won't help. The other half will get better faster with antibiotic eye drops. Don't use contact lenses, eye make-up Use warm water compresses to soothe the eye.

call your doctor, it sounds like you have pink eye. you will need medication for it. in the meantime gently clean the goop away with a clean warm washcloth. make sure it is not re used by anyone else after wards, and wash you hands with hot soapy water after. apply a warm compress to your eye. remember this is contagious, don't touch it, and avoid spreading it to others.

I would not take the chance...if you have pain in your eyes then definitely go see and "eye" doctor. Eyes are precious and not worth taking chances with.
