So basically, you want to go and help overseas but you're not happy to help with the fundraising to go there? You want someone else to fundraise, while you go and spend their money overseas for a year?

I think you are seriously missing the point!

The VSO (voluntary service overseas) ask that you apply before 15th January (so better get a move on) and you must fundraise at least £950 of it yourself from local companies etc. If you are selected then you go on training courses and then are placed abroad if successful.

However if you're not willing to put in the voluntary work of fundraising in the first place, I don't think you're the best person to go and help.

The UN Volunteer http://www.unv.org/ does not charge people to work overseas -- they even pay their volunteers a generous per diem and allowance that allows the volunteer to sufficiently live in their country of deployment.

Check out also the UNV Volunteering website http://www.onlinevolunteering.org/

In Australia, Australian Volunteers Abroad. They pay your way to get O/S, and place you in a job O/S, where you are paid the local going rate.
