What is the fittness test that firemen take?

I can tell you the fitness test that I took to become a FF - however it has changed dramatically since I joined.

I had to -
Reach level 10 on the beep test
Bench 50kg 20 times in a min
Leg Press 120Kg 20 times in a min
do 30 sit ups in a min
we had to do a 100m firemans carry
We had to do the fire house crawl in Breathin apparatus
we had a team event where we had to carry loads of gear around a 5-600 meter course.
And hose running - rolling out and rolling up hose.

Nowadays they cant do that - as too many women were failing and small people. Its thought to be too desciminatory!!!!

Each individual County may have their own test - it is at the moment being standardised(read - made easier).

Keep in contact with the bridges - and dont limit yourself to your local brigade - go wherever to get the job - and get yourself upto date with fairness at work and everything PC and you'll be a sjoe in!!
