The world will always need heroes, whether they be fictional and dressed in spandex and capes, or very real and dressed in Camouflage and Combat boots. I believe it was Voltaire who once stated that 'If God did not exist, it would be necessary for man to create him." Heroes are the same way, they provide a compass by which others may guide tehmselves. In a world full of real heroes(Cops, FireFighters, Military, Nurses, Doctors, etc.) we still need the fictionalized ones to exist outside our reality and in one in which the rules are black and white. A world where there is a real sense of right and wrong not the moral relativism that exists in our world today. As good as all of the real heroes are, there are those among us in their line of work who taint the image for the rest of them.
Superman was the first of the Comic Book hero and he existed in that universe as the ultimate moral compass and in his wake we have the Pantheon of heroes thet populate both the DC and Marvel Universes, as well as the countless other Comic Universes. In recent times the black and white of their world has been tinted by the shades of grey from ours, but yet they stand tall as virtuous beings who light the way for generations of people, who otheriwise live in a dark world.
So I reject your theory, and state that the world does need Superman, whether its in the form of the 'Big Blue Boyscout', or as one of the Men and Women who serve this nation in our armed forces, or as a police Officer who busts a Meth Lab, or a Teacher who shapes the mind of a future productive citizen. There will always be a need for people like that, and my only regret is that I am not a good enough person to be one of them.

the international desires heroes, so ergo the international desires Superman. mutually as he isn't "actual" interior the classic experience like firefighters, police, and scientific workers, he does serve the comparable common objective of representing the perfect and giving the reader desire for/of a extra helpful the next day.
