You would be much better off with a GPS detector... the price will be a lot more, but to be honest, the radar detectors are not worth the money.
To Alan j UK, you sir are a twit
Many speed traps are simply revenue raising devices. It is not 'cheating' to be aware of speed traps, it is good sense and sometimes neccesary, as the speed limits dont always relate to the actual condition/location of the road.
- case in point - the A12 extension between leytonstone and stratford. Several Speed cameras were in place before the road was even opened to traffic and the limit is variable along this stretch of road (some 40 MPH, some 50MPH) without any apparent regard to road location, conditions, etc.
anyone who drives more than a few dozen miles a year and says that they have never broken the speed limit is a liar

YES . . . BUT, You get what you pay for. I bought a SNOOPY for £120 18 months ago and it has proved to me that a signal was being given in a spot at Kilsby (Nthants). I couldn't see a camera and it was only when I got the speeding ticket from Northants Police which showed a white mobile van in position. I returned to that spot and that signal was again given by my detector but there was no mobile van? NOTE THIS:- I think the Detectors are OK but I wouldn't risk my lot with a £30 one. Again the Detector only warns YOU but it is yr foot on the pedal. YOU must get a detector WHICH ALSO shows you what the Limit is as well. Now if you think you can drive fast anywhere you like then you will not be saved by a detector. Your Insurance will go up each time!!! if you don't tell them yr insurance is invalid. SO, always drive sensibly and the detector may save you from a mental lapse. OK . . . Drive Carefully!

Yes they do but there are many different types on the market. I would suggest that the one you are looking at may not pick up all the types of speed cameras and guns etc. The cheaper ones only tend to pick up on the fixed cameras. There are devices on the market that will pick up every radar, gun and camera on the road. Have a shop around.I Remember a bit back one particular company was so confident in its product that it would pay the speeding ticket for you if you got one. Cant argue with that. Sorry cant remember what they were called though.

these things do have a little catch-22 in that they do detect radar however the speed your traveling pops up on the cops gun the same moment that your radar detector goes off most people fail to realize that so it wont prevent your ticket. plus its illegal in some provinces. and oh yeah some departments dont even use radar they use l.i.d.a.r which is infared lasers. so these things are just a total waste of money

Radar detector are not Worth the money you pay for them because you have all ready been clocked before they work these days.
the technology these days with police radar is such that they will clock you before your detector tells you they are there so as the other person told you, it cheaper not to speed.
anyway whats the hurry, you going to a funeral or something?
it may be your own!

They work, but in some places they're illegal. They have radar detector detectors too...for the cops. Different kinds detect different bands, there are
X-BAND
#
K-BAND
#
KA-BAND
#
LASER 904
. Some have technology to make them invisible to detector detectors.
