Yes you can, this may sound complicated,if it's your house go to your borrower and ask if you can arrange to pay back your loan over a period of time, they may say its to late as its going to court then ask if the judge agrees can you pay back over a period of time will they stop the repossesion, they may agree.
when the case go to court explain to the judge that you fell on hard times and would like to be given a chance to pay back your loan and your borrower has agreed to accept you repaying your debt to them, if all goes to plan pay your loan without fail then you can keep your property.

Re. AK23566: where are you? You can be protected and make people take a step back in the collection process. And anyway, they want their money, not court bills. Get the comfort of some free advice from whatever organisation

Unfortunately you will have to come up with the money. If you cannot i suggest you get packed up now and put your stuff in storage otherwise it wil be very unpleasant as the morgager/landlord has every right to put your stuff on the street. On the day go round to your nearest council housing department and present yourself as homeless (if you are in the UK) - better still go and see them before .

It may be possible. The citizens advice bureau should be able to help. It may be that you can agree a repayment schedule in court but you will then have to stick to it.

Hand over the thousands of pounds in mortgage repayments you owe. It's the only way.
