Where I am from in the States it only proper to do this. I am 15 years older than she is. I wish him to see that I am honest and sincere about this lovely young lady. I only want his blessing, how can I make him realize I do love her and wish to spend my life with her. Any advice?

I would call him and ask him if you can come over to talk with him. I would say the following "Mr. Smith, I am in love with your daughter and i believe she loves me. I would like to marry her. I know we have 15 years between us and that might be a concern of yours but i can assure you that I am an honest and respectable man who will treat your daughter with respect and love. She will never want for anything and i will do everything in my power to assure her happiness. I am able to support her, i have a good job. I realize this is a life decision. I am here to get your blessing because if you do give your blessing this will make us family which i would be honored to be a part of your family. Either way i will respect your decision". If he says No then you will have to respect his decision (you can have your girlfriend there so he can see that she is agreeable to the situation). If he says yes graciously thank him, shake his hand and tell him you will make him proud. Good luck! She sounds like a lucky lady, how can her father object to a man who values his opinion so.

You are kidding right? As a woman and not a piece of property, I'd be really annoyed if my lover asked my father for his permission. You see, since women have achieved personhood, we are able to make our own decisions and since marriage is no longer about the family as a whole, but two people alone, asking for her father's permission is not only insulting your future wife's ability to be an independent person but pointless as well. Her father can give his blessing when you announce that you are engaged.

Wow! Just the fact that you are asking your future father in law for permission to marry his daughter is awesome!!

Just visit him in person and tell him you love his daughter and want to marry her and take care of her.

He will say yes!!

I didn't know people actually did that! But honestly, just tell him the truth, sound sincere, and make good eye contact. I never trust someone who can't look me in the eyes, of course, sometimes I can't trust people who do look me in the eyes.

yea, go upto him and ask " excuse me, dad, I hope you don't mind me calling you dad. and let the conversation progress from there.
Just don't try this method with her mother or you will make her feel old.

If this does not work then try a dowary like: two goats and a chicken for the hand of his daughter.

invite him out to dinner where you sing her praises for the entire night as well as talking honestly about your feelings. the effort you make with him should indicate something. ask for his permission at the end of the night.

"say: You don't want your daughter to be a single mom do you?"
Seriously now. Just have an honest talk and tell him and ask him how happy his daughter has been since you've been going out with her and how she is special to you too!

Congards!!!

JUST BE HONEST WITH HIM AND TELL HIM HOW YOU FEEL ABOUT HIS DAUGHTER, AND THEN ASK HIM FOR HIS DAUGHTER HAND IN MARRIAGE. GOOD LUCK.
