Yes the first three months are the most sensitive for the fetus.
If you have been drinking heavily, but didn't know you were pregnant, it's understandable. But it may have caused your baby harm already. You should visit your doctor and explain - they will let you know more details.
The first three months are when the nervous system, the heart, the eyes... alot of important body parts are developing. Alcohol can really impair the process.

STOP DRINKING NOW!
You can't reverse any damage that has already been cause, but you can avoid any further damage. The most critical time in a baby's development is the first few months when all the organs are developing. During those first few months anything you do has the potential to cause great harm. In the later months the baby is mostly just growing so the risk of causing damage is not as great - but that doesn't mean it's ok to resume drinking in the last couple months.

There isn't much you can do now except stop drinking. Make sure you talk to your ob/gyn immediately and discuss this with him. He will explain to you exactly what the risks developmental wise are, he also needs to be aware should there be a problem with the baby. Be honest about it, sounds like you were doing more than just the occasional drink. No need to be embarrassed because you didn't know, it's not like you did it on purpose.
Hopefully all will be okay, it's not like you did it on purpose. It's also good that now you know so you won't continue to drink during the pregnancy. Most of the problems caused from fetal alcohol syndrome is continued drinking.
Discuss with you doctors the exact specifics as best as possible, get out a calender and write down how often and how much, as well as if you were intoxicated. Be HONEST with your doctor no matter how hard it is , because that will allow him to know exactly what risks are involved for your child.
Be sure and get on prescription vitamins asap and eat lots of foods with folic acid.

Yes alcohol can seriously harm your baby but i'll let you know that nearly everybody i know who got pregnant by accident had had at least one really drunken night & these babies are now teenagers (i haven't seen any obvious ill effects yet). But i would take this seriously & go tell your Dr as you will probably need a fetal screen asap (blood test & ultrasound). Good luck & try to focus on something more positive as you can't change what has already happened & probably nothing has. Best of luck.

only stop ingesting now which you comprehend you're pregnant. Stressing in the process the final, which you now not have conterol over, won't be able to help your infant. do not subject. many women folk do issues like smoke and drink becuase they did not comprehend they have been pregnant. I drank some gallon of caffeine an afternoon, and became on weight loss plan tablets. plus, I had 3 xrays and an MRI carried out, all when I conceived my infant, yet did not comprehend it on the time. and my infant is okay. as long as you stop, you would be nice. would not help to fret approximately it now, because of the fact it is too previous due. if it became going to reason a miscarriage, it would have already. I had 3 xrays and an MRI refrained from understanding i became pregnant. rfile stated there is not any factor in stressful. what's carried out is carried out. If i became meant to miscarry from the xrays, i might have carried out so appropriate away. yet i did not. good success.

It really depends on the person but i drank (unknowingly)until i was 4 months pregnant with my son and he is the happiest, healthiest baby i've ever met. Never had a problem and has been sleeping 10 hours a night since he was 6 weeks old.

Stop drinking now, i doubt that there will be damage to your baby. Don't dwell you cant change the past. If it did do serious harm 80% of the worlds population would have AFS and they don't! So just relax...stress will do more harm than drinking
