They are less greasy when flat on surface. There are some shapes like heart or so, but you know, good old pancakes are our tribute to tradition and home values when flat and round ... yummy... Just be sure not to overindulge, or you might change your shape instead ...

um. because they wouldnt cook right if they werent.
you can make them into different 2d shapes, like squares, triangles, or even mickey mouse though.
but if you dont want it to be flat, stack some together with frosting in between them.

they can be any shape you like just use a cookie cutter to pour the batter into, or you can get square omelette pans, they would work
