I can only directly answer your question regarding the three campaigns of Guild Wars. I own all three chapters, and play them all. I have one character that has been through and completed Prophesies (the original Guild Wars) and Factions (Chapter II), and is currently moving through Nightfall. That is one thing that I have really enjoyed; taking the same character through all available quests and missions, even while I make and try out new characters. If I had to choose a favorite, I would say Nightfall, because it is still new (I am exploring the game thoroughly and am approximately 40% through NF), but Prophesies is my second favorite, with Factions last. If you want an idea of how the game plays, check out the two sites I am attaching; the official site will show you some of the details (i.e. graphics, events and updates), and Guildwiki is an in-depth, walk-thru guide to everything from armor to missions to events, etc.
I hope this helps you.

I can't help with the comparison with Lineage 2 as I've never played it, but I can answer your question about which chapter of Guild Wars is better. It depends on your point of view, and what you want out of your gaming experience.
Factions is a fast paced, PvP oriented chapter with an Oriental theme. The storyline is rather weak in places, but the fierce and unpredictable combat more than compensates in my opinion. It also allows you to create characters belonging to the Assassin (ninja-style melee attacker capable of inflicting massive damage spikes before teleporting to safety) and Ritualist (versatile spellcaster capable of calling forth spirits from the etherworld and directly enhancing theteam's weaponry by altering its forms and properties) professions.
Nightfall is a more roleplaying oriented chapter with a North African theme, and has a rich and exciting storyline to follow as you progress through the game. Along the way you can also recruit heroes, which act like henchmen but allow you to customise the skills they use in combat, allowing you to add a new level of strategy to the game. Nightfall also ties up a lot of loose ends from Prophecies (the original) and Factions, so to get the most out of Nightfall it's advisable to complete the previous chapters first. Nightfall also allows you to create characters belonging to the Dervish (a magically enhanced melee attacker capable of transforming into a myriad of different forms) and Paragon (a spear-throwing support character that enhances team spirit with a multitute of vocal skills - the GW version of a cheerleader) professions.
Both are great games, and both are well worth buying. They both offer different and interesting things and appeal to different groups of players. Personally, my favourite is Factions :)

I think Guild Wars original is better. I have Nightfall and I play it less than original.

ive completed factions and original so right now, id DEFINITELY say original. the plot was ok in factions, but the gameplay was crap, like it was rushed or something, i beat the game in less than a week while original took a while.
im still on nightfall so i cant say anything on it yet.
